Diagnosis, therapy and coaching
Are you wondering if you have ADHD?
Newly diagnosed and looking for help?
Struggling with ADHD symptoms for years and looking for a new approach?
People who have ADHD need the help of highly experienced ADHD specialists. We provide a full-service approach offering diagnosis, therapy and coaching to people with ADHD.
Diagnosis
When seeking a diagnosis for ADHD, it is critical that you work with somebody who does assessment work regularly. The stakes are high for correct diagnosis. Misdiagnosis can cause years of struggles. Correct diagnosis is the first step towards a good treatment plan.
Our Lead Therapist, a PsyD psychologist, Dr. Stephanie White, has over 20 years of experience diagnosing ADHD and other behavioral and mental health conditions.
How it Works
We will ask you to fill out symptoms rating scales and a health history questionnaire. You will then meet with Dr. White so she can perform an in-depth clinical interview. If you have a diagnosis, you will then do a second appointment with Dr. White to understand your diagnosis and work on a treatment plan.
It is important that our clients leave their diagnosis appointments with a positive frame of mind. After all, people with ADHD who work on themselves have successful and fulfilling lives.
ADHD Coaching
ADHD coaching helps people better understand their brains, play to their strengths, and build “workarounds” for their weaknesses. We help clients uncover the emotions behind their behaviors and develop strategies to overcome challenges.
We begin with an executive function assessment that clearly identifies strengths and weaknesses in areas like Working Memory, Time Management, Task Initiation, Task Completion, Emotional Regulation, Flexible Thinking, and Self-Awareness.
Once clients identify what they want to work on, the coach helps them understand how their brain may be holding them back. For example, a client struggling with procrastination might describe their behaviors and identify the emotions driving them. Only after building this awareness does the coach introduce strategies. Clients then test different approaches to find what works best for their brain.
Behavior change takes time. The goal is to turn these “workarounds” into habits so clients can stay on track with less cognitive effort. Over time, they rely less on the coach.
For middle school, high school, and college students, the focus is often academic performance. Coaches help them stay on track with schoolwork while building habits that support long-term success
Therapy for people with ADHD
Some people with ADHD have underlying emotional challenges or co-occurring conditions that need the help of a therapist. If you have strong anxiety, depression, or trauma then you may decide to work with a therapist rather than, or in addition to, a coach.
Many times having undiagnosed ADHD creates these co-occurring conditions because of the blows to self-esteem and emotional wholeness that having untreated ADHD can cause.
So when you work with a therapist at our practice, they will use evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behvior Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), or Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Our therapists deeply understand ADHD and the resultant emotional challenges and help clients feel whole and accept themselves for wh
If you work with a coach and a therapist in our practice, you also get the benefit of their working together on the same team to provide you a holistic approach.
